Fall Winding Down

Rockhold Fly Fishing Blog Post 2 (4)

With Fall winding down and the trout rods put away for a while, it becomes time for our annual pilgrimage over to Idaho’s Salmon River in search of steelhead. The Salmon is one of my favorite steelhead rivers. The runs swing well and the fish love to sit right where they are supposed to. Despite holding lower numbers of fish than other rivers in the pnw, The water, views, and nostalgic memories more than make up for fish size and numbers.

A few weeks back I spent a long weekend with good friends and family on the Salmon. Great times were had and a few fish were found. Some on the swing with spey Rods, some nymphing with the single handers, and even a back trolling fish.

Memories were made, first steelhead were caught, Good times were had. Can’t wait to do it again soon.
